Why on earth change a good system?

I have been using home charging on anytime for well over a year, it works extremely well so it makes no sense to me to change to a new system which sounds totally complicated and not at all clear how it works! You say the chargeable plans give you a number of free miles…what an earth does that mean? In summer I plug my hybrid in and may get a 36 mile range, but in winter I’ll be lucky to get 24 miles! So are you saying I’ll get free miles in winter than in summer??
